Welcome to Second Grade!

We are so excited to welcome our students and families to Cooper! Second grade is a year filled with curiosity, growth, and discovery. Together, we will build strong foundations in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, while also exploring the world through hands-on STEM activities.

Our learning is guided by the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), which help us focus on mastering essential skills. We will continue to explore place value and practicing multiplication strategies in math, to exploring life cycles, weather, and Virginia history in science and social studies. These standards ensure that each student is prepared for their journey ahead.

At Cooper, we love to make learning exciting! Students will have opportunities to design, create, and problem solve through engaging STEM activities that encourage teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking.

Just as important as academics are our behavior expectations. We believe  in our Cooper Character Creed:
